The game play itself is simple, even without knowing any Japanese, but it probably would help a bit, because the special moves can be a bit complicated to use. Knowledge of the language or a lot of time really helps here, you can pick and choose what special moves each character has. Battle mode is simply you versus 5 monsters, one at a time. It does screw up the camera angle up a bit, and it’s somewhat hard to remain on screen sometimes. Team mode is a nice little addition, allowing you and a friend to fight as 2 Ultramen against monsters. So yeah, losing to Zetton isn’t all that bad, although I never saw Zoffy actually jump in and FIGHT him after Ultraman lost to him… but it’s fine with me, never have too much Zoffy. Familiarity with the series will REALLY help you here, as each level is graded, and more or less, if you stay true to how it worked out in the series, your score will be boosted. Ultra Mode is a simple scenario based story mode. With access to most of the Existing Ultramen (at the time) created, it does give you a wonderful chance to mix and match, creating your own little episodes. Well, you will have some problems with the menu screen, but it’s not all that hard to figure out anyway.
